What Motivates Your Employees?
According to a Gallup survey of 100,000 employees in 2500 companies, there are 12 things that motivate employees. The top answers to the survey question “What motivates you” are:
1. “When I know what is expected of me.”
2. “When I have the materials and equipment I need to do my job.”
3. “When I have the opportunity to do what I do best.”
4. “When I receive recognition or praise for my good work, at least once a week.”
5. “When I believe that my supervisor cares about me as a person, not just as a worker.”
6. “When there are people at work who encourage my development.”
7. “When there are people at work who regularly check on my development.”
8. “When it seems my opinions count.”
9. “When my specific job is tied to the overall mission of the company.”
10. “When my coworkers are committed to quality work.”
11. “When I have a good friend at work.”
12. “When I have opportunities to learn and grow every year.”
